Ministry Happens Now - Another Request for Prayer

It seems to be true that the more people you have praying for something, the more exciting it is. It isn't at all because the prayers of one aren't powerful by themselves, but I love the way God created the church...to band together and to run the race like a marathon. In our case, we're banding together to "train artists to create for a Higher Purpose," and we're very excited about what's happening.

We continue to anticipate the premiere of He Leadeth Me (Father's Day, in case you forgot), but we are also urgently praying for our next project. An exciting aspect of this pursuit is that young people are starting to come alongside us in a very real and powerful way. For this film, it will be vital.

Last night, I had the pleasure of meeting with two of our Team Leadership members, Joe and Rachel. Joe is a freshman at NDSU, and Rachel is currently a junior at Fergus Falls Kennedy. Though they didn't quite know what to expect walking into my house, they walked away with the opportunity to become a champion for our second film project...and they're running with it! I had the opportunity to search their hearts, their minds, and their experiences for insight into what it's like to be a Christian dating couple in 2012, and I challenged them with many questions about difficult scenarios. It was an absolute joy to be able to hear from their hearts their views on dating, marriage, and their own personal relationships with Jesus. In fact, they offered to take this idea one step further. They offered to continue and expand this sort of conversation by offering a time of discussion for their fellow Redeemer's Song Team Leadership members! From there, they said that they would consider leading a wider group discussion with individuals they don't even know.

Rachel and Joe are champions. Please pray for them, as they help to further enhance the message of our next film by bringing practical application to the lives of those fellow young people around them. Ministry doesn't happen when the product is over. Ministry happens now.

Please pray for Joe and Rachel, that the Lord would shower them with wisdom, courage, and tenacity to be a champion not only for Redeemer's Song, but for their peers.

Urgent Prayer Request

Redeemer's Song Christ Family Film Productions is already praying and preparing for our second independent film (title to be released on Father's Day). The last few days have been a whirlwhind not only spiritually, but emotionally and mentally. The storyline and characters for movie #2 are fast evolving, and I am more and more convinced every day that this message, too, is an ordained message that Redeemer's Song has been called to share.

Though I am not allowed to reveal too much information concerning this next feature, as we are fast approaching our premiere for He Leadeth Me, I do want to share this urgent prayer request concerning one of our characters and the actor who has accepted the role of Brandon Shaw.

Joshua Overgaard has agreed to play the modern role of a high school teen who learns that he is to become a father. This role, vital in today's society and very applicable to many Christian young men, will be one of the most important roles in the entire film. With this huge responsibility, Josh has agreed to move forward with the project, and we long for him to become one of our top spokespersons over the next two years.

Joshua Overgaard, Senior at Hillcrest Academy
and member of RS Team Leadership

Today, it was discovered that Josh is headed this weekend to Inspiration Point Bible Camp for the second 2012 Winter Weekend, where guest speaker Bob Tissot will be speaking "in regards to relationships, dating and living according to God’s will" (IPBC web site ~ http://www.ipoint.org/). When I heard this, I felt it vital that Joshua be introduced to his character this afternoon before he left for the weekend. Over smoothies at Cafe 116, I had one of the best conversations I've ever had with Josh about scenarios that he had never before considered. On the film set in over a year, Josh will be faced with the reality of depicting what it feels like to not only be faced with the huge responsibility of early fatherhood, but what it means for a young man to be in a relationship with God while dealing with an enormous amount of guilt.

This is a request for much-needed prayer. Please pray for Josh this weekend as he participates in the Winter Weekend at IPBC. Pray that the Lord will give him an increased knowledge of his will for Josh's future as a young man, and as a minister of his message.

We're moving forward, friends. Intentionally.

Please...intentionally pray for the power of Christ to work in Joshua's participation in Redeemer's Song Ministries, and in the participation of all of our actors, directors, and families involved.
